Jamie's girlfriend, Gretchen, describes him as loud, charming, excitable and extremely social. She says that she just cracks up at him because he's such a hoot.

Jamie was given the 1967 Galaxie as a high school graduation present 12 years ago. He had it looking good at the time and would cruise around and take pictures of himself in it.

But life started getting tough. His mother was diagnosed with cancer, so he took on caring for her and the financial burden of the household. His grandparents live with his mom, so he is looking after them as well. Jamie has not time or money left to spend on himself.

Gretchen often hears Jamie talking with his buddies about the "old times," and eventually everything comes back to the Galaxie. Jamie is often sad about the condition of the car: the tires are flat, the interior and top are ruined, and the body has rust spots.
