Marina says that Hector's looks and character are in contradiction; he has a handlebar mustache and goatee, he sports tattoos, and he wears Raiders clothes... Yet, he is a science teacher at a private parochial school, a law abiding citizen, and even is a worrier that freaks out over the littlest thing.

Hector had wanted to buy a 1970 Mustang since he was 16 years old. He even bought a license plate that says "'70 Muscle" before he even had the car. He finally got his dream car, but right now, he can't afford to fix it up.

Marina says Hector sold his motorcycle, boat and truck to help her win custody battle over her oldest daughter. Hector sacrificed without one complaint to keep his new family together, so when he finally got the Mustang she wanted to help him get it Overhauled.
