- Begin work only after engine is cool. A hot engine can produce pressure in the cooling system.
- Locate thermostat by following upper radiator hose away from the radiator to thermostat housing.
- With basin under hose to catch coolant, it is safe to remove clamp from hose where it attaches to the thermostat housing. (Warning: Coolant is extremely toxic and needs to be disposed of properly.)
- Remove the housing by loosening the bolts, inside you will find the thermostat.
- Remove old thermostat and clean the area of debris and all remnants of the old gasket.
- Position new thermostat and gasket on housing.
- Replace bolts snuggly.
- Reattach the hose with clamp.
- Start vehicle and check for leaks and coolant level.
