Jimmy Shine knows his way around custom cars. His cool, aggressive creations have ripped a new era in style and quality. Jimmy is young, cocky, and going places.
He was always on the edge. By 14, he had built a Gasser-styled, Chevy-powered 1940 Willys pickup. Then came the custom bikes, more hot rods, and more than a few life adventures.
Jimmy’s been around the block, had skin off, broken a few hearts, taken the wrong road, and got back on track. But when
SO-CAL Speed Shop's president, Pete Chapouris, took in Jimmy and gave him a break, he really started to shine.
Working closely with the SO-CAL crew, Jimmy earned key positions on milestone projects—Chuck DeHeras’s 1940 Ford coupe, Ed Ducazau’s 1929 hiboy roadster, Dan Kruse’s timeless Harley, Gene Olson’s 1951 Merc convertible, the "DH Special," the "Fleet Special," and the Ardun hiboy roadster, among others.
In his spare time, Jimmy built his iconic 1934 Ford pickup, a Bonneville race car, and two very cool Harleys.
The glue in Jimmy’s life is family, hot rods, bikes, and surfing. His wife Nikki and daughters Morgan and Kayla patiently share his time and agree “he’s a pretty cool dad.”
But will he be a cool teacher? This lone wolf is ready for his next challenge—to pass on his passion and skills to the next generation, continuing a tradition reaching back through SO-CAL’s 60-year history.
