1952 MGTD:
1952 was near the end of the MG TD’s lifespan. Produced from 1949 to 1953, this car helped start the sports car craze in America. Both wider and shorter than the previous MG model, this car was better suited for sporty, yet relaxing drives. MG produced nearly 30,000 TDs and exported all but 1,656. Most of the exports made it to North America. The inline four cylinder engine produced a puny 57 horsepower and would barely push the car to 80 miles per hour, under the right circumstances such as a sharp descent on a hill.
Bill Ford’s MG TD has been in his possession for quite a while and he seems reluctant to sell it, especially with its “B” rating on the Sports Car Market Collectability Scale. Our experts valued the car at $16,000, but with auction values ranging from $20,000 to $24,000 in the past five years, Bill has a difficult decision to make.
