2003 Chevrolet Silverado

In the winter of 2003 Boyd decided it was time for a new shop truck. He headed down to the local Chevrolet dealership and made a deal for a brand-new standard cab, short-bed Silverado.

Once the truck was in the shop all emblems were removed, as well as door handles, moldings and the tailgate handle. The third brake light and drip rails were filled and smoothed to clean up the cab area. In the rear a steel roll pan was put in place of the rear bumper, and between that and the tailgate an LED tail light was added. This made it possible to fill and smooth the stock tail lights, which helped the flow of the bed. The body was then sprayed with GM Gunmetal Gray on top and Dupont Lime Green on the bottom separated by a gold-leaf stripe.

Bringing the truck down to an acceptable level was accomplished by installing lowering springs and spindles in the front, while the rear uses a custom four-link setup to replace the stock leaf springs. New one-off Boyd Coddington billet wheels were mounted on 18-inch Goodyear tires and bolted on each corner using knock-off, as opposed to the standard six, lug nuts.

The gray leather interior was left stock other than the addition of a more powerful stereo system. The last order of business was adding another 100hp to the motor in the form of a Whipple Supercharger, thus finishing off the three-month build.
