Aluma Coupe

Owner: Dave Sedorick

The Aluma Coupe debuted in 1992 at the New York International Auto Show. A controversial car because of its Mitsubishi "power plant," the car did a lot to promote the sport of hot rodding and Boyd Coddington himself.

The 11-month build began with a lightweight, round, mild steel-tube frame, riding on an independent front and rear suspension. In between the frame rails lies the unusual turbo-charged, twin-cam, inline four-cylinder from a 1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse, putting out 330hp. Getting all the horsepower to the ground is a 1990 Mitsubishi Galant four-speed automatic transmission. Bolted on each corner is a 16-inch Boyd Coddington Billet wheel with a Goodyear tire. The hand-built aluminum body is covered in a lime-gold pearl hue, while the interior is covered in tan Connolly leather and sports an Alpine sound system and Boyd Coddington steering wheel.
