Michael Anthony's 1934 Ford Roadster

Owner: Michael Anthony (Van Halen)

Like most of Boyd's creations, this '34 roadster started life with a steel-tube chassis using fully independent front and rear suspension. The back end has a Corvette center section, while the front uses a Mustang II-style suspension. The chassis rolls on Boyd Coddington wheels shod with P185/60R14 fronts and P275/60R15 rears made by BF Goodrich. Power is provided by a small-block 350 Chevrolet fitted with Holley carburetion, polished aluminum valve covers and a Boyd's billet aluminum air filter assembly. Getting the 300hp to the pavement is handled by a 700R4 transmission controlled by a Gennie shifter.

So that it could be channeled over the frame rails, the body's floor was removed and moved up. A hand-fabricated three-piece aluminum hood was formed around a '34 grill, which was also heavily modified. Once the body was arrow-straight it was sprayed with Dupont Hard Rock Black, and finished off with some pearl-white, orange and red flames surrounded with lime-green pinstriping.

A simple tomato-red leather interior with tasteful tuck 'n' roll inserts features a billet aluminum instrument panel fitted with VDO gauges, a Boyd's pedal kit, billet steering wheel and Pioneer/Orion sound system.
